After losing their first game 24 to 6 against Austin Prep during the season opener the East Boston High School football team went on a tear beating Dorchester 32-0, Amesbury 42-26, Charlestown 8-0 and West Roxbury 28-20.
The Jets headed into the game against Blue Hills Friday with a 4-1 record but the winning streak came to an end when the Warriors beat Eastie 40-22.
Against Dorchester the Jets piled up over 300 rushing yards. Eastie’s Andre Rickerson ran for four TDs in the win over the Amesbury. Then senior running back Brandon Campbell became explosive and unstoppable in games against
Charlestown and West Roxbury. Against West Roxbury, Campbell scored three touchdowns–one being an exciting 75 yard run in the fourth quarter.
However, that offensive prowess of the Jets failed to materialize.
Eastie failed to score in the first quarter and answer a touchdown by Blue Hills Isaiah Teixeira.
Campell proved again to be essential to Eastie offense and scored the Jets fist touchdown of the game with an 80-yard run to tie the game at 8.
Campell run was followed by two more Warrior touchdowns by Vincent Burton–both for 4-yards–putting Blue Hills up 24-8.
The Jets answered at the beginning of the third quarter and scored 6 points off another Campbell touchdown, this time from 11-yards out. However, Eastie missed the two point conversion making it 24-14. This would be the only score by either team in the third and it looked as though Eastie was starting to come alive with one quarter to go.
Unfortunately Blue Hills would score two times in the fourth quarter on runs by Burton and Teixeira making it 40-14.
Eastie would score one more time before the end of the game on an 18-yard run by Anthony Whitney to end the game at 40-22.
