On Saturday August 7, officers assigned to the District A-7 Community Service Office in Eastie, hosted an on-ice hockey drill program at the Porrazzo Skating Rink at the beach.
The young skaters took to the ice where they were welcomed by local hockey star, Braden Doyle, who donated his time to share his skills and experience.
Braden, a Lawrence Academy Graduate, played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2019. Braden will be playing at Boston University this season.
Community Officer Gary Marino, who has been running a youth hockey league for the Boston Police at the rink, thanked Captain Kelly McCormick, Sgt. Joe Cintolo, the Police Activities League and FMC for donating ice time at the rink. Without all their help the program would never be possible.
“I was fortunate enough to coach Braden for a short time on and off the ice when he was young,” said Marino. “His determination and work ethic was and is off the charts. He comes from a great family who taught him well”.
