Last Saturday was East Boston’s turn to do its part in Mayor Martin Walsh’s Boston Shines clean-up campaign. Needless to say, the weather was just miserable for a clean-up of the streets and open spaces in our neighborhoods.
But the rain did not deter residents from coming out with brooms and bags and shovels and rakes to get rid of the winter debris that seems to just multiply year-after-year.
We thank the residents who took part in the clean-up. To the younger members of the clean-up crew, we hope that you noticed that the trash that was collected comes from people — so the next time you see someone throwing something onto the street, you should say something – since this is your home.
