My name is Lou Scapicchio and I am running for State Representative for the 1st Suffolk District. I believe that all citizens have the right to know as much as possible about the candidates asking to represent them in any office. During this campaign, I hope to have the opportunity to speak with every resident of East Boston. I will answer any questions about my background and experience so each voter can make an informed decision about how to use their vote. Come election day, I am confident you will find I am the most qualified candidate for this office. You will also see that I am the candidate who can serve as the best possible advocate for East Boston in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Lou has spent nearly his entire life in East Boston and he has lived, worked and was educated in this city.
Lou started school at the Manassah E. Bradley School for kindergarten. He attended St Mary’s Star of the Sea School for grades 1 through 6, Boston Latin Academy for grades seven and eight and Savio Prepatory High School. He graduated from Suffolk University with a bachelor’s degree in criminology with a minor in psychology. He then earned a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University School of Law.
Lou worked and volunteered at the Salesian Boys and Girls Club as a counselor and coach. He worked nights at Logan airport loading planes and trucks for FedEx during college. He worked for the City of Boston Transportation Department. Currently, he is the legal counsel for the Massachusetts Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea.
At the age of 17, Lou enlisted in the Army reserves. He served eight years as a nuclear, biological and chemical operations specialist and received an honorable discharge at the rank of staff sergeant. After law school, he was honored to be appointed as an officer in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps., the law firm which serves the Army. He spent four and a half years on active duty and served as an administrative law attorney, prosecutor and defense attorney. He is still currently a Judge Advocate in the Army Reserves at the rank of Captain.
