The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today joined State Representative Adrian Madaro and students from Samuel Adams Elementary School to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated playground and splash pad at Piers Park. During the event, students enjoyed exploring the brand new play structures in the playground firsthand.
The renovations to these two important features of the park are part of a larger effort to upgrade playgrounds and family amenities across Massport property and give local children and families more options for interactive play and outdoor fun in East Boston.
“These improvements at Piers Park are a tremendous addition for East Boston families,” said State Representative Adrian Madaro. “It’s exciting to see children already enjoying the new playground and splash pad, and I appreciate Massport’s continued commitment to our community.”
The new space features modern play structures designed for children of varying ages and abilities, while the splash pad offers a fun and refreshing outdoor space for families during the warmer months. The playground improvements at Piers Park are one component of a broader Massport initiative to modernize playground equipment throughout its parks, ensuring safe, accessible, and engaging recreational spaces for all.
“Piers Park is one of East Boston’s most treasured community spaces, and these new improvements will provide families with even more opportunities to gather, play, and enjoy the waterfront,” said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. “Massport is proud to continue investing in parks and green spaces that improve quality of life for residents and visitors.” Massport is also undertaking similar improvements at Bremen Street Park, which are expected to be completed in the coming months.
