Louis F. Ricci

US Navy Veteran of WWII

Louis F. Ricci, WWII Veteran of East Boston, passed away peacefully at home on October 26th at the age of 102 surrounded by friends and family. Louis grew up on Saratoga Street and was the only son of seven children. A World War Il Navy veteran, Louis served his country honorably.

Louis was the son of the late Frank Ricci and Carmella (Bonito) Ricci. He was the devoted husband for 56 years of the late Elena (Avallone) Ricci and the loving father of Christine (Ricci) McNamee and her husband, Joseph of East Boston. He was also the dedicated brother to his late sisters: Anna Fiumara, Florence Brandano, Francess Serra, Eleanor Ricci, Susan Scanzill, and Elvira Carozza and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Louis was a retired bank manager who enjoyed working in the garden and doing home improvement projects. He loved watching football and horse racing. He was also an amateur photographer who enjoyed taking photos of his family.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Louis’s life on Monday, November 3rd from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston. Lynn Downing

She cherished her family and friends

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, November 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Lynn M. Downing, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22nd at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers following a very valiant and courageous battle with cancer. She was 64 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home following the visitation at 3 p.m. Interment will be private.

Lynn was born on January 29, 1961 in Winthrop. One of two children, she was raised in East Boston, educated in Boston Public Schools and was an alumna of East Boston High School, Class of 1978. Lynn’s entire working career was in Banking. She worked for Boston Federal Bank, TD Bank, State Street, and most recently she was at Citizens Bank. Lynn’s career began as a teller and then through the years she worked her way up to become a Wire Transfer Officer. She was very good at her job, and all through her career she made many friends. Unfortunately, due to her failing health over the past year, she was forced to stop working.

 Lynn had many passions in her life, one of which was music. She loved attending concerts and enjoyed many genres. Lynn was also an avid reader of many types of books, novels, and enjoyed television. She was very much into fitness, particularly “cross fit” exercises. She cherished her family and friends.

The beloved daughter of Theresa (Blundo) Downing of East Boston and the late Robert M. Downing, she was the cherished sister of Richard Downing and his wife, Monica of Brentwood, NH, the loving aunt of Nicholas A. Downing and his wife, Natalie of Dover, NH and Alexandra Downing and her companion, Andrew Jackson of Portland, ME. The former wife of 23 years of Joseph Gulla of Revere, she is also lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
