Boston City Councilor Gabriela Coletta Zapata has announced that Stephan Marin will serve as her East Boston Liaison. Marin is a proud son of Colombian immigrants and a lifelong East Boston resident. Born and raised in the neighborhood, he has been actively involved in the community since high school. A product of Boston Public Schools, he attended the Manassah E. Bradley School and Mario Umana Academy before graduating from Boston Latin Academy. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Stephan to my team to help make City Hall more accessible and responsive for East Boston residents. He brings both experience and a deep passion for serving the neighborhood,” said Councilor Coletta Zapata. “I am confident he will use those skills to address the unique needs and challenges residents face, and I look forward to working with him to continue improving the quality of life in Eastie.”
“I’m honored to serve as Councilor Coletta Zapata’s East Boston Liaison. I’m committed to providing excellent constituent services, being rooted in the community, and building strong partnerships with residents and community organizations. I look forward to working with the team and thank Councilor Coletta Zapata for the opportunity to serve in this role,” said Marin.
Stephan has long been passionate about giving back to the community through youth soccer coaching. He has worked with free soccer programs in East Boston through the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing and now serves on the coaching staff for both the Boston Latin Academy Boys’ Soccer team and the New England Surf Soccer Club. Outside of his work with the City Council, he remains dedicated to providing Boston youth with access to high-level coaching and support in pursuing college opportunities.
Stephan has held several roles in community organizations, most recently serving as Government Affairs Associate at NeighborHealth. Prior to that, he worked as a Youth Community Organizer with the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing.
