Lisa Vozzella

Of East Boston, formerly of Texas

Lisa M. Vozzella of East Boston, formerly of Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with cancer on August 13 at the age of 43.

The loving daughter of Charles Vozzella and Barbara Murray, she was the dear mother of Ryden, Kameron and Alyesia, all of Texas; devoted sister of Ryan Murray and his fiancé, Talia, Erica Vozzella and her fiancé, Zachary Kirby, Gina and Charlie Vozzella; cherished stepdaughter of Lisa Vozzella and Jack Murray and beloved granddaughter of Josephine DeMarco and the late Angelo and Louise Vozzella and Charles and Lillian Baglio. She was the best friend and very special cousin of Nicole Rizzo and is also survived by many adored aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours today, Wednesday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston. Services will conclude with a prayer service at noon in our Serenity chapel.

Anna Carmella La Voie

Retired Registered Nurse

Anna Carmella (Minichiello) La Voie, 88, of Franklin, died peacefully at her home on June 20 with her family by her side. She was the wife of John J. La Voie for the past 67 years. 

Born in the North End of Boston on January 3,1934, the daughter of the late Ralph and Antonetta (Iacoviello) Minichiello, Anna was raised in East Boston and lived in Franklin for the past 63 years.  She was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston and also graduated from Chelsea Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse.  Anna worked at Milford Hospital and then as a school nurse at the Davis Thayer School in Franklin until her retirement. 

Anna and her husband spent winters in Palm Springs, California.  She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, volunteering, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kathi Wyatt and her husband, John of East Boston, Paul La Voie and his wife, Karen Marie and John La Voie and his wife, Janice, all of Franklin and James La Voie and his fiancé, Robin Carpus of Yorktown Heights, New York. 

She is also survived by her siblings: Rose DiMare and her husband, Sebastian of Hudson, NH, Rita Carrabba and her husband, Mario of Peabody and Anthony Minichiello of East Boston.  She was predeceased by her sisters: Angela Luedke and her late husband, John, and Marie Menez and her late husband, George. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shaun, Michael and his wife, Daniela, Matthew, John, Katherine and James and her great-grandson, Jack.

Esmeralda Verissimo

Her Family Was the Center of Her Life

Esmeralda M. (Henriques) Verissimo of East Boston, formerly of Lisbon, Portugal, passed on August 11.

Esmeralda was born and raised in Lisbon.  She married John there on September 15, 1974 and came to the United States in 1975.

She worked for many years at the Hilton Hotel in Logan Airport until her retirement. Her family was the center of her life and she has had much more time to devote to them since her retirement, allowing her to become very close to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The beloved wife of Joao “John” Verissimo for nearly 50 years, she was the loving mother of Rui M. Verissimo and his wife, Michelle of Holbrook and surrogate mother to Catia Lopes of Holbrook; grandmother of Alec Jon, Hailey, David and Dominic; sister of Rosa Henriques and her spouse, Fatima, Paula Lopes, Carlos Manel Henriques and Cristina, Antonio and Joaquim “Jackie” and grand-aunt of Brandon.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews in Portugal.

Visiting hours in the Magrath Funeral Home, 336 Chelsea St., East Boston will be on Thursday, August 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Sumner St., East Boston on Friday morning, August 18 at 10:30 a.m. (PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH). Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
