Marie Vecchia

Graduate of RHS, Class of 1941

Marie Y. (Del Vecchio) Vecchia of Revere, in her 97 th year, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. 

 A graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1941, she was the beloved wife of the late Eugene F. Vecchia Sr. with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, loving mother of Gene and his wife, Tracy, devoted grandmother to Nicholas and his wife, Jennifer and Derek and his girlfriend, Sari; great grandmother of Lorenzo, Owen and her favorite canine, Blu and daughter of the late Euplio and Nicoletta (Fabiano) Del Vecchio.  She was pre deceased by her siblings: James Del Vecchio, Florance Reedy, Anthony Del Vecchio, Benjamin Del Vecchio,and Edith Silvestri and survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Rose Vecchia and many nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio &  Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St,  Revere on Friday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 12 Noon.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s name to the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living, 240 Lynnfield St, Peabody, MA 01960.

Teresa Salerno

Of East Boston

Teresa M. (Ferreira) Salerno passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4. 

The devoted spouse of Nicholas Salerno Sr. of East Boston, she was the beloved mother of Adrienne Salerno-Giugliano, Christopher Salerno, Nicholas Salerno Jr. and his partner, Kelly Cahill, all of East Boston; dear sister of Arthur Ferreira, Phyllis Hawkins, Emily Murray, Lawrence Mangone and the late Patricia and David Ferreira and cherished grandmother of Josslyn Giugliano and Scarlett Rose Salerno. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will honor Teresa’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston on Friday, September 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Church, East Boston, for a Funeral Mass celebrating Teresa’s life at 10 a.m. Committal services will be private. 

In accordance with the City of Boston Five-Point Plan for the Delta Variant of COVID-19, face masks are required at all times when indoors.

Anthony  “Tony”  

Barletta Jr.

Of Revere

Anthony “Tony” Barletta, Jr. of Revere passed away on September 6 at the age of 90. 

 Born in Revere on October 10, 1930 to the late Anthony Barletta Sr. and Lena (Belmonte), he is survived by his longtime companion Barbara Angelo of Saugus, dear brother of the late Carmine Barletta and his wife, Evelyn and the late Phillip Barletta and his wife, Frances, cherished uncle of Sandra Lee Newman and her late husband, Jack of Revere and Trisha Romano and her husband, Robert of Revere; adored great uncle of Jacqueline and Danielle Newman, and Gennara and Nicholas Romano. 

A visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St.,  Revere on Thursday, September 9 from 9:30  to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Revere at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited.  For guest book please visit  www.buonfiglio.com

Anita West

Of Wakefield, formerly of East Boston

Anita M. West, in Wakefield, formerly of Everett and East Boston, died on September 1. 

The beloved daughter of the Madeline (Giovanniello) West, she was the sister of the late Joseph M. Karaiskos, niece of Rose Giglio, Theresa Dalton and Carmella Lagodimos and is also survived by several cousins.

Funeral Services were held in the Magrath Funeral Home on September 7 followed by Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  

Anita’s family wishes to thank the staff and residents of her Group Home, who will forever be her extended family.

Claire Kenney

Of East Boston

Claire P. (Berninger) Kenney of East Boston passed away on September 5 at the age of 97. 

The devoted wife of the late James P. Kenney, she was the beloved sister of the late Mary Bisson and her husband, Marcel, Thomas J., Catherine E., and Richard G. Berninger; fond sister-in-law of the late Julia Fennelly, Judith Sullivan, and Mary Plunkett.  She is also survived by three generations of loving nieces and nephews.  

Family and friends will honor Claire’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston, on Friday, September 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Joseph- St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass celebrating Claire’s life. All other services are private.

Louis Tango

Member of Machinists Union Local S 25

Louis Tango of East Boston died unexpectedly on September 3.

Louis was born and raised in East Boston and attended school here. He was a member of Machinists Union Local  S 25.

The son of Mary (Cobb) Tango Goulart and the late Arthur “Mickey” Tango, he was the father of Michael Tango and his wife, Danielle of Peabody, Louis Tango and his husband, Eric of Londonderry, NH, Nicole Tango of Boston and Joseph DeDominicis of East Boston; brother of Maryellen Yianacopolus and her husband, Keith of Billerica and the late Anthony “Tony Tango” Henry Louis and is survived by grandchildren: Katelyn and Andrew Jones, Gregory, Darien, Hannah and Haden Motto, Arianna and Emma Tango and great grandchildren: Westyn Littlefield and Isabella Tango as well as many nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, East Boston Saturday, September 11 at 11 o’clock.  Visiting in the church prior to Mass commencing at 10 a.m.
