Steven Travers

Of Peabody

Stephen E. Travers of Peabody tragically passed away on April 18.

He was the loving son of Eugene Travers and the late Diane (Doyle) of Cambridge, dear brother of Dana Travers of Marblehead and Valerie Travers and her fiancé, Robert Barker of Lynn, former husband of Darlene Pastore and cherished nephew of Maureen Sheaffer, both of Peabody. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Family and friends will honor Stephen’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston, on Sunday, April 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. and again on Monday morning, April 29 at 8:30 before leaving in procession to the St. Joseph – St. Lazarus Church, East Boston for a Funeral Mass in celebration of his life at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Stephen being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Maria Pisciuneri

Of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston

Maria V. (Fazzolari) Pisciuneri of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her bedside on Friday, April 19.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rocco Pisciuneri, devoted mother of Marianna Ciccia and her husband, Nicola of Argentina, Caterina Pontoriero and her husband, Salvatore of Chelsea, Vincenzo Pisciuneri and his wife, Giulia of Chelsea and Stella Ciurleo and her husband, Attilio of New York; dear sister of the late Maria, Pasquale and Giuseppe Falzzolari; cherished grandmother of Susana, Daniel, Silvia, Richard, Claudio, Maria, Daniela, Alexandra and Marina and adored great grandmother of 16. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Maria’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston, today, Wednesday, April 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the St. Anthony’s Church, Revere for a Funeral Mass in celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Maria being laid to rest next to her husband Rocco in Chapel Hill Mausoleum Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. John Buttiglieri, Sr.

30-year UPS employee

John A. Buttiglieri, Sr. of East Boston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16.

A US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was also an employee of UPS for 30 years.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Maslin) Buttiglieri; devoted father of Sandra Kraus of Uxbridge and Nancy Davis of Salem, NH and the late John A. Buttiglieri Jr.; dear brother of Millie Frizzell of Washington and the late Constantino “Sunny” Buttiglieri and Rocco Buttiglieri; cherished grandfather of Michael and Kaitlin Kraus and Charlie and Valerie Davis and great-grandfather of Antonio Michael Kraus.

Robert “Buzz” Barnes

Retired Boston Firefighter

Robert E. “Buzz” Barnes of East Boston, formerly of South Boston, died on April 22.

A US Army veteran, he retired after 33 years of service as a firefighter for the Boston Fire Dept, stationed at Ladder 21, Orient Heights and Ladder 2, Maverick Sq., East Boston.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly A. (Riley), loving father of Judy Barnes of East Boston, devoted grandfather of Robert “Robby” Barnes, son of the late Margaret L. (Varley) and James B. Barnes and cherished uncle of Edwin and Doria Shanahan of Peabody. He is also survived by three sisters, one brother, several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Magrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] East Boston on Thursday morning, April 25 at 10:30 followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., East Boston at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting prior to the Mass commencing at 9 a.m. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery will be at a future date. Indoor parking and entrance to funeral home available from 340 Bremen St.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Buzz’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Care Dimensions, Wounded Warriors or the MSPCA would be greatly appreciated.

Marion Rizzari

Of East Boston

Marion Rizzari of East Boston died peacefully on April 23.

She was the loving daughter of the late Giacomo and Michelina (Riggi) Rizzari, dear sister of the late Teresa, Salvatore and Joseph Rizzari and Viola “Dolly” Chance and the cherished aunt of 17 loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Marion’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston on Friday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a prayer service in our Serenity Chapel.
