Mariam Hamtini playing with a pinwheel in the Eastie Farms garden on Sumner Street last Saturday, July 22, during the annual Garlic Festival at the Farm. The former abandoned lot has turned into a haven for volunteers to cultivate plants and produce – much of which goes to soup kitchens in the area and to those who cannot afford to buy fresh produce. The aromatic festival was a hit with gardeners and also served as the final event for Eastie Week.
