Knights Stay Perfect Defeat Yankees

Knights continued their road trip this time traveling to Waltham to face the Yankees. Jay Lendall took the ball for his first ever YBL appearance for the Knights and faced off against George Ziegler. Lendall made it through 2 1/3 innings before giving way to Branden Eaton who came on with the bases loaded and 1 out to induce an inning ending double play off the bat of Steve Walsh. The Knights had an early 3 – 0 lead heading into that inning but the Yankees got to Lendall for 2 runs before the double play. The Knights picked up another run on a Mikey Oliveira double to take a 4 to 2 lead. Shawn Carlson came on in relief of Eaton and stuck out the 6 batters he faced and Jon Shepard earned his 2nd save in as many chances by pitching the 7th. Offensively for the Knights Mikey Oliveira (3 hits) and Kenny Polanco (2 hits) led the attack on the Knight. George Ziegler was the tough luck loser pitching a complete game for the Yankees. All in all another victory for EBK as they hold on for their 4th win in as many games. “Just another game for us and now we prepare for the Malden Maddogs on Tuesday. We did our job and left town with the W” said Knights Manager Eric Bellavia. The Knights now have the Memorial Day weekend break coming up and will finish their 5 game road trip to start the season on Tuesday at Maplewood Park vs the Malden Maddogs. The Knights will have their home opener on Friday night at “The Stadium” at 8PM vs the Al Thomas A’s.
