JC Detailing takes regular season crown in the EBMHL

Another long and arduous season is in the books for the men of the EBMHL. Yet another, fantastic season with some great hockey action, at Porazzo Rink, wrapped up last Tuesday evening. In the end, it was JC Detailing who emerged as the leagues top dog as they emerged from the smoke clinching 1st place and the top seed in the 2014-2015 EBMHL playoffs and earning them a first round bye.

JC Detailing, captained by Mark Buttiglieri, went on an absolute tear winning their last 12 games of the season, catapulting them to the top of the standings after a dismal middle of the season, in which they were as far down as last place at one time, rode the backs of goalie Ryan Farrell and forwards Joey Salvadore and Shawn Smith, while Marc DeAngelo shut it down on the blue line for the JC Detailing Blackhawks. An amazing all around team effort they hope carries over into the playoffs. Even after going 12-0 the last 12 games, it wasn’t easy for JCD, as Charlie Daniels and his EBYC troops were also on fire. It came down to one game between the two squads.

Heading into Tuesday nights action, JCD needed EBYC to lose, in which they did not after pounding the Mosca Squad 7-4, requiring JCD to get a win over Milano’s Deli. Had JCD lost to Milano’s, EBYC would have taken the first spot, but JCD battled to a 6-4 win, locking EBYC in at 2nd place, also earning the 1st rd. bye. with JCD.  EBYC relied on Daniels and Sebastiano Amara week in, week out to set the tone each game, while Dman Jeff Arinella was always a threat in front of Goaltender Chris Grossmann, who caught fire late in the season.

Locking up the 3rd spot was Preston Properties, captained by Marc Lanzilli and a major threat to every team in the league when not battling numbers issues. Behind Lanzilli, Preston started out this year in a dominant manner with the likes of Mike Mondello, Jeff Kasper, and Mike Russo. On the blue line, Sal Santostefano and Ryan Luongo took care of business in front of Brad Watkins all year long and hope to continue doing so Tuesday night when they take on the 6th seed Mosca Squad. Formerly Lightning Express, the defending champions, captained by Dominick Dimarzo, suffered from a dismal year as they held up the rear of the league all season long, never finding a groove. DiMarzo got outstanding production from their top forward Andrew MacCormack all year long as well as great work on the blue line from Fernando Fernandez.

They look to play dragon slayer Tuesday night when they take on Preston Properties in the Quarterfinals. Finishing 4th was Milano’s Deli, another great squad with fantastic talents. Captained by Peter Hanlon, they will be taking on Team Carlo Basile captained by the 2014-2015 league scoring champion Dave Berardinelli who finished the season with 88 points narrowly beating out Milano’s Hanlon.

DAVE BERARDINELLI

PETER HANLON

47         37        84

The two square off Tuesday night in a highly anticipated tilt of league powers. The Goaltenders will certainly have their work cut out for them as Nick Rossi, Milano’s Deli, replaces an injured Tony Deandrea, and George Barker, Team Basile, looks to shut down the Milano’s boys.

The EBMHL would like to thank any and all who took the time to come out to a game or two this past season. The best is yet to come and we certainly hope to see you all out for what should be one of the best

playoffs the EBMHL has seen in its 6 seasons.
