Madaro is Democratic Nominee for State Rep

Adrian Madaro won the Democratic primary in the special election for East Boston’s state representative seat on Tuesday.

Madaro topped the field of candidates with 1,422 votes. Joe Ruggiero was second with  1,188 votes, followed by Edward Deveau 646, Lou Scapicchio, 204 and Camilo Hernandez with 193 votes.

At his victory party last night, at the East Boston Yacht Club, Madaro thanked his supporters and the residents of East Boston. He also lauded the other candidates for running strong, issue-oriented campaigns.

Madaro will face off against Independent candidate Joanne Pomodoro in the general election in March
