East Boston High Jets gear up for the fall football season

With a new field to play on and renovations to Sartori Stadium nearing completion, the EBHS football team will clash with Latin Academy for game one on Friday evening, September 5 at 6 p.m.

Its year two of a new play-off system for MIAA schools whereby schedules are set for September and October.  Games for November will be determined by a point system in which EMass and CMass schools will be split into two groups: play-off teams and non-qualifiers.  The goal of the new system (to be evaluated after the season) is to increase the number of play-off teams and lower the number of Super Bowls.

Headcoach John Parziale begins his fifth season with a record of 24-18.  Last season, the Jets were a disappointing 5-6 but capped the season with a Thanksgiving Day blowout over a hapless South Boston team by a score of 50-6.

With (# ) of seniors on the team, most of whom are experienced, the team expects to win more games this season and qualify for a run to a superbowl appearance in November prior to the 97th Thanksgiving Day game on November 27.  Senior captains are Tom Wilson, Kevin Sinatra and Justin Roman.

All East Boston graduates and residents are encouraged to come out and cheer on the team at the home games at Sartori Stadium.
