Paul Rizzo

MBTA Engineer

Paul A. Rizzo of East Boston passed away on January 6.

An Engineer with the MBTA, he was the beloved husband of Tinamarie (Stracqualursi) Rizzo with whom he shared 17 years of marriage.

He was the loving father of Paul Rizzo, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Revere, Luke Logan of Fall River, Richard Harris of Beverly, Angelina Harris of Alabama and the late David Rizzo and his wife Karen of Everett; dear cousin of Michael Rizzo and the late Frank and Catherine Rizzo and the cherished son of the late Alfred and Rose (Bizoti) Rizzo.

Family and friends will honor Paul’s life by gathering today, Wednesday, January 8, in Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere from 10 a.m. to noon with a service in our chapel of the resurrection at noon. Joseph Pelosi

Of East Boston

Joseph N. Pelosi of East Boston died unexpectedly on January 2. He was 59 years old.

He was the husband of Teresia (Delorey) Pelosi of East Boston; father of Michelle Kelly and her husband, Michael of Winthrop and Kristina Pelosi of East Boston; loving son of Faye (Consolo) and her late husband, Joseph R. Pelosi of East Boston; dear brother of Richard Pelosi and his wife, Lisa of East Boston and Joanne Gallagher and her husband, David of Winthrop and is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews. Of Malden, formerly of East Boston

Thomas J. Costigan of Malden, formerly of East Boston, died on January 1.

A US Coast Guard veteran, he was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Anzalone), the devoted father of Thomas E. of Peabody and his late wife, Alyce (Flanagan), Linda and her husband, Thomas Motherway of Malden and James and his wife, Karen (Albert) of Peabody; brother of Edward of Lynnfield, Raymond of Saugus and George of New Hampshire and is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His funeral was held from the Magrath Funeral Home, East Boston on January 7 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Malden. Interment with Military Honors took place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Ann C. (Murray) Picardi died in East Boston on December 31.

The beloved wife of 58 years of Joseph J. Picardi, she was the mother of Gail and her husband, Philip Brown of Pembroke, Linda and her husband, Anthony Gallotto of Tewksbury and Joseph and his wife, Roseann Picardi of East Boston; sister of Daniel Murray of Revere and the late Eileen DiLuigi; grandmother of Katelyn and Lindsey Brown, Lauren, Anthony Jr. and Jason Gallotto, Tiffany and Peter LaCascia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Irene M. ( Surrette ) Pedonti of Nahant formerly of Orient Heights East Boston, passed away in the arms of her son on December 29 at the Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Peter Pedonti with whom she shared 48 years of marriage; loving mother of Edward Gaeta of Nahant; dear sister of Ann Miano of Needham and cherished grandmother of Edwin Gaeta, Jr. of Lynn.

Carmella A. ( Colangelo ) Puopolo of East Boston passed away January 1 surrounded by her loving family at the Mass General Hospital.

Carmella was employed at American Airlines for over 15 years.

Born in Boston on November 13, 1941, she was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Puopolo with whom she shared 51 years of marriage; loving mother of Denise Puopolo Lincoln and her husband, Walter of Lynn, Christopher Puopolo of East Boston and the late Ralph Puopolo; dear sister of Ginny Colangelo of Revere and the late Johanna Stack; cherished grandmother of Justin, Devan, Jennafer, Alexa and Joseph Puopolo.

Rita J. (Mainiero) Tedescucci of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed peacefully surrounded by her entire family on December 30.

The beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Tedescucci, she was the devoted mother of Anthony M. Tedescucci and his wife, Patricia of West Peabody, Karen Appel and her husband, Kenneth of Foxboro, and the late Susan Pasco and her husband, Edward of Revere; cherished grammy of Leah and Anthony Tedescucci, Ashley and Tyler Appel and Nicholas and Alanna Pasco; dear sister of Elsie Cipoletta Blaum of Burlington, and a special auntie to her nieces and nephews.

Robert J. “Dancing Bob” Colvario in Chelsea, formerly of the North End and East Boston, died on December 28.

A US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, he was the beloved husband of Lola “Cookie” Kerble-Colvario; father of Gina Colvario Krupka and her husband, Mike and the late Diane Colvario VanMeter; brother of Richard “Richie” Colvario and his wife, Kathryn of East Walpole; Papa to Jimmy and Lucas VanMeter and is also survived by five nephews. Richard Campagna

Boston Parks Department Retiree

Richard Campagna, formerly of East Boston, passed away on December 22 at the Chelsea Soldiers Home where he has lived for the past few years.

Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Edith Campagna. He attended schools in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged following World War II. Richard worked for many years for the Boston Parks Department in East Boston retiring after many years of faithful and dedicated service.

He is survived by his niece, Judith Russell of Florida.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Chapel. Services concluded with Military Honors. Margaret Borgioli

Homemaker

Margaret (Tomasello) Borgioli of Revere died at the MGH on January 5. She was 92 years old.

A homemaker, she was the beloved wife of the late Constantino; devoted mother of Carol Liberato and her husband, Nicholas, Lt. Carl (Ret. RPD) Borgioli and his wife, Roseanne, all of Revere and Richard and his wife, Joan of California; dear sister of John Tomasello of Revere and several deceased brothers and sisters. She was the loving grandmother of Jacqueline Bufalino of Winthrop, Gina Mackin of Revere, Jennifer Gulliver of Salem, NH, Rebecca Borgioli of Saugus, Steve Borgioli and Christina Borgioli, both of California and is also survived by nine loving great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.

Gary Cioffi, Sr.

Revere DPW Foreman, Drummer for His Group, “That’s That”

Gary M. Cioffi, Sr., a lifelong Revere resident, died following a long and arduous battle with Melanoma at the Mass. General Hospital in Boston on Monday, January 6. He was 51 years old.Gary was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1980. He attended the Contemporary School of Music of Boston and began to play drums at a very early age. Although most of his working career was with the Revere Dept. of Public Works at the schools and at City Hall, he thought of himself first and foremost as a musician and drummer. His music career was mostly self-taught and inspired. However, his father’s family were long time musicians both locally and in Florida. Gary’s group, which was known as “That’s That,” played often for the Beach Scenes along Revere Beach Boulevard and also at Hampton Beach, NH.e was the beloved husband of some 34 years to Peggy (Mackin) Cioffi); the devoted father of Gary W. Cioffi, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, Michael J. Cioffi, Derek J. Cioffi and his wife, Alexandra “Ali” and Torre Cioffi and his companion, Emily Tremonte, all of Revere; the adored “Papa G” to Addison Rose and Noah Ross Cioffi and the cherished brother of Carol Hamilton of Watertown and the late Fred Cioffi.
