The 113 Club figures to be a contender

The chase is on in the EBMHL. The 113 Club proved, in impressive fashion, that they are in fact a contender in this years wide open league. In game 1 of the evening, the 113 Club leapfrogged Bill Ashes in the standing to move into second place after dismantling The Comets 10-2.

The offense came from both sides of the ice for the 113 with Marc Lanzilli leading the way with the hat trick and three helpers, while  Eric Gahagan provided his own punch with a pair of his own. Mike Burri and Peter Hanlon had one each, while the defensive corp of Mark Buttiglieri, Matt Morrissey, and Brendan Bonito each posted single tallies.

The Comets posted key shots throughout this one, but Tony Dandrea would only fall spell to shots by Vinny Schettino and Stephen Morrill.

In Game 2, we saw the East Boston Yacht Club take on Yellow Taxi in a battle straight to the finish. Goals came quick and often in this one with the EBYC having the final say with the 8-7 win.

EBYC’s Charlie Daniels led the attack with 6 unassisted goals while Dante Arinella pitched in with a pair and Chris Sullivan with the loner. For Yellow Taxi, it was Jim Leger, 3 goals and an assist, and Paul Monzione once again providing the offensive punch with 2 goals and 3 assists.

Chad Higgins and Michael Preston each had a pair of goals to help bolster the Yellow Taxi attack. In the finale, it was the battle of 1st vs. 2nd as Urban Sun Tanning took on Bill Ashes in a barnburner that ended deadlocked at 8.

These two teams went back and forth straight to the final buzzer in what was a very fun game for all in attendance.

EBMHL leading scorer Shawn Smith was the driving force for the UST offense scoring 3 goals and 3 assists. Smith was joined on the scoresheet by Jeff Delpidio, who collected a pair and two assists, Justin Mazzone, Ralph Guarino, and Steve Moccia who each had single tallies. Guarino finished the night with a goal and three assists.

Thanks to the play of Gerard Cioffi and Sebastiano Amara, Bill Ashes was with USt every step of the way. Each Cioffi and Amara had 2 a piece with the single tallies coming from Darrell Interbartolo, Ray Khan, Mike O’Brien, and Mark Mansfield. Dave Chiaradonna pitched in with 3 assists. Sound Decision was on the BYE week.

The league is heating up and getting better every week, please do not miss the spectacular action at the Porazzo Rink each Tuesday night this winter.
