Richard ‘Richie’ Morabito

Died recently

Richard "Richie" Morabito died recently. He was 83 years old.

He leaves his loving wife of 30 years, Venita (Christophe) Morabito. He was the brother of the late Bill, Mike, Dom, Lenny, Sadie (Washburn) and Dolly Botte and also leaves three sons, Richard and his wife Mary, Dominic, John and his late wife, Diane, and five daughters, Debbie and her husband Kevin, Linda, Donna, Maryann and her late husband, Ernest Spinney, and Monique. He is also survived by several grand and great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews.

The family received visitors on August 16 in The Rapino Memorial Home, East Boston. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Robert Murphy

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Robert E. Murphy of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on September 12 after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Irene ( Sylvester) Murphy with whom he shared 59 years of marriage; loving father of Robert Murphy and his wife, Jane, of Melrose, Michael Murphy and his wife, Debra, and David Murphy and his wife, Gillian Cable Murphy, all of Saugus, John Murphy and his wife, Janet, of Swampscott and Janet Krol and her husband, Wesley, of N. Reading. He was the cherished grandfather of nine and great grandfather of five.

Family and friends are invited to visit today, Wednesday, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Vazza’s "Beechwood" Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere . Committal will be private. Paolina (Parisi) Mellone of East Boston died on September 12 in her 102nd year.

She was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni Mellone with whom she shared 40 years of marriage; loving mother of Anna Pisaturo and her husband, Joseph, and Damiano Mellone, all of East Boston, and the late Alfonso Mellone and his wife, Catherine ( Pisaturo) Mellone of Revere; dear sister of the late Rosa and Palma Parisi; cherished grandmother of three and great grandmother of six.

Of Stoneham, formerly of East Boston

Anthony Bettano of Stoneham, formerly of East Boston, died on August 29.

A US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the beloved husband of Joanne ( Caggiano ) Bettano with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, the loving father of Anthony L. Bettano and his wife, Karyn, of New York, Stephen A Bettano and his wife, Tracie, and Judith M. Capone and her husband, Michael, all of Peabody; dear brother of Roy Bettano and his wife, Jean, of Saugus and Robert Bettano and his wife, Maureen, of Peabody; cherished grandfather of Anthony, Luke, Sophia, Tessa and Brandon Bettano and Gabrielle and Benjamin Capone.

James L. Fiore of Woburn, formerly of East Boston, died on September 11.

He was the beloved husband of Sylvia M Petagna; loving son of Lena (Serino) of Revere and the late Vincent Fiore; dear brother of Domenic, Joseph and Stephen, all of Revere, and Angela C. Fiore of Peabody; adored Godfather of Brian S. Foster of Haverhill and Julia N. Silvestri of Wakefield. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Pia A. (Orlando) Magnifico of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on September 11.

Mrs. Magnifico survived World War II in Italy, had a great sense of humor, loved to dance and was a wonderful cook.

The beloved wife of the late Philip Magnifico with whom she shared 53 years of marriage, she was the loving mother of John Magnifico and his wife, Nancy, of Salisbury and Philip Magnifico of Cambridge; dear sister of Tina Pellecchia and her husband, Joseph, of Lynnfield, Rosetta Bruno, Nina Mamolino, Angelo and Tonino Orlando, all of Naples Italy; cherished grandmother of John and his wife, Lauren, and Michael Magnifico and great grand grandmother of Tatyanna. She was the aunt of Nancy Weiss and friend of Brenda Bikowski.

Virginia (Mori) Gibbons of Tewksbury, formerly of East Boston, died on September 9.

The loving mother of Frances Antrim of East Boston, Donna Harland of Brockton, Mary G. Rizzo of Tewksbury, Joseph Gibbons of Malden, Daniel Gibbons of Plymouth and the late Lorraine LaBone and James Gibbons, she was the dear sister of Natalie Polcari of Lawrence and the late Celia Gallagher and Nellie Cote; cherished grandmother of 29 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Nicholas Mazza

Retired Boston Firefighter

Nicholas A. Mazza of Plymouth, formerly of Dedham and East Boston, died on September 6. He was 89 years old.

Born in Boston to the late Nicholas and Mary (Cornetta) Mazza, he graduated from East Boston High School in 1939, served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He later became a Boston Firefighter and retired after 28 1/2 years of service. He was a former member of the Norfolk Golf Club and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Mazza; father of Maureen Westgate of Plymouth and the late Peter Mazza; brother of Rita Mazza of East Boston and is also survived by four grandchildren, Scott, Sean, Laurie and Matthew and six great grandchildren, Alexa, Emma, Braeden, Ailia, Julia and Maeve. He was the step son of Anthony Maggiore, brother of the late Francis Mazza, Marion Pascucci, Mary Mazza and Nellie Geggis.

Mary L. (DiStefano) De Marco of Charlestown, formerly of East Boston, died on September 7.

She was the beloved wife of the late Severino De Marco with whom she shared 24 years of marriage; loving mother of Diane Tiro and her husband, Dennis, of Lynn; dear sister of the late Josephine DiFronzo, John, Michael, Salvatore and Damiano DiStefano.

Michael P. Bright of East Boston died suddenly on September 4.

The beloved son of Irene G. (Sullivan) and the late Thomas J. Bright, he was the brother of Patricia Imbriano and her husband, Louis, Thomas J. Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, Daniel and his wife, Janet, twin brother of Robert and his wife, Diane, John and his fiancée, Joana, Coleen and her fiancé, Vincent, James and his fiancée, Brenda, Donald, Mary and Kathleen Bright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
