Internet Cafe – New business on Meridian Street deserves a beer and wine license

There is a new business about to locate on Meridian Street that is going to be East Boston’s first ever Internet café – in other words, this is a business that will cater to those who will frequent an environment that offers the Internet and good food and drink.

This is exactly the type of business that should be allowed a beer and wine license – and this business has applied for one only to be told: “There may be none available.”

For this type business there should be a beer and wine license available. This is exactly the type of business that aids in having this neighborhood be a sought after place.

If others can get beer and wine licenses with the snap of a finger, then this Internet café ought to be able to do the same.

  • there are too many beer & wine licenses in East Boston.East Boston is very decadent due to Hispannic population. RTHe REP there Basile--what good deos he contribute to East Boston.. and too The House? look at the BSOB governors agency os a Charles Wolf---he robbed the BIG DIG site in Boston on Nashua st. HE is Bad and he is on the State Payrool. Tajke that to EB rep BASILE and he will ignore it.. POOR_POOR people in East Boston--its like a cast system.. they arent really represented at the State or city level--eb is overcrowded neighborhood & USA needs better neighborhoods.

  • Is this a sweepstakes cafe? That would by why they are looking for a beer and wine license...hence make it more like a casino. 3 of these internet cafes were shut down last week in Fairhaven, Fall River and Chicopee. Before granting a license for beer and wine we should find out if these are even legal, if it is a sweepstakes cafe paying cash for winnings.
