East Boston Men’s Hockey Report

The third week of the EBMHL season saw the league expand to 6 teams. With 3 games the night promised to be filled with some great hockey and the players did not disappoint. The first game of the night was probably the best of the season thus far with Woody’s Liquors taking on Sound Decision. The first period showcased some great goaltending by Nick Rossi and Chris Grossman ending with Rossi’s team in the lead 1-0. In the 2nd period Charlie Daniels would put Woody’s in the lead setting up the 1st goal of the game and scoring the 2nd goal on a one-timer setup by Dom Dimarzo. The 3rd period featured 7 goals with the lead changing hand a few times. With about 3 minutes remaining Daniels set up Dave Couldren for the game winning goal. Couldren would add an empty netter on an unselfish pass by team sponsor John Wood to seal the 6-4 victory.

The middle game of the night had Demo Solutions facing off against Hatrick Sportswear. The Demo Solutions offense continued to roll opening up an 11-2 lead through 2 periods of play. Team sponsor Mike Burri was the spark up front with a hat trick and 4 assists on the night. Demo

Solutions finished the game strong holding Hatrick scoreless in the 3rd period to win 13-2.

The final matchup featured the Comets and E.B. Yacht Club playing their first games of the season. The rest of the league was eager to see how these two teams would play.

Both teams were up to the task with an excellent opening period where the Comets held a 4-3 lead, with Chris Palmer scoring 2 for the Comets.

The 2nd period saw each team score 2 goals each and the Comets clinging to that 1 goal advantage heading into the 3rd period. E.B.Y.C was able to tie the game in the early stages of the 3rd period on a goal by Dave Collins. But the Comets responded with 2 more goals to earn the 8-6 win.
