East Boston High Football Season Begins Friday Night

The East Boston High School Jets will open the season at Sartori Stadium this Friday evening at 6 p.m.  The visiting team will be the Boston Latin Academy Dragons, led by Rocco Zizza. Beginning his sixteenth season as head coach is John Parziale with a record of 81-62.  Assisting him will be Coaches Shawn Torrici (2008), Juan Murcia (2011), Brandon Ciacio (2006) and Jean Carlos Flores (2023).  All are East Boston High graduates and played for the team.  The team numbers about 30 with four seniors.  Captains are juniors Caidan Pelosi and Jayson Taft and senior Jeyson Guerria.  Last year, the Jets ended the season at 2-8.  On Thanksgiving eve, the Jets traveled to Chelsea in year one of this new rivalry and got their second win, 32-7.  The Thanksgiving game this year will be a home game for East Boston on November 27 at 10 a.m.  It’s Year 10 for an MIAA approved play-off system.  Schedules are set for September and October.  Games in November will be determined by a point system in which Eastern Massachusetts and Central Massachusetts schools will be split into two groups:  play-off teams and non-qualifiers.  The new system began in 2013
