Robert Pacitta
Of East Boston

Robert J. Pacitta died unexpectedly in East Boston on September 12, 2024.
A veteran of the US Army Vietnam Era, he was the beloved husband of Katherine “Kathy” (Hanton), the father of Craig and his wife, Michelle Pacitta, Tammy Pacitta and her companion, Pete “Tattoo Pete” Mancusi, all of East Boston; grandfather of Jaden and Jared Pacitta and the brother of the late Anthony “PeeWee” Pacitta.

Orazio Celona
Retired Boston Police Department Sergeant

Orazio M. Celona SGT-BPD (ret) died in East Boston, September 12, 2024 in his 102nd year.
A lifelong East Boston resident and retired Boston Police Sergeant with 35 years of service, he was the beloved husband of the late Celia R. (Sciacchitano) Celona, son of the late Rosaria (Caruso) and Frank Celona; brother of the late Frank j. Celona Jr and his wife, Rose (Marino). He leaves his sons, Stephen and his wife, Mary of Amesbury and Michael and his wife, Nancy and daughter, Carol, all of East Boston. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael Celona Jr and his wife, Kimberly, Stacey and her husband, Thomas Strong, Tina and her husband, James DelRaso, Kristen Celona and her partner. Michael Cromidas, Celia and Sean. He was great-grandfather to Victor, Brayleigh and Aislynn Celona, Olivia, Madly and Gavin Strong. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his faithful and loving companion of 23 years, the late Rose Labadini.
During World War II, he served in the US Army Air Corps. He trained to be a pilot, but his class was cut just before graduation. He was then assigned to the 10th Army, 87th Signal Division, and was in the ship to shore Invasion of Okinawa on April 1, 1945. He continued his service with the Army’s occupation force in Korea.
He was a member of DAV Post #77, VFW Post #6712, Flaherty American Legion Post #30, the Director of the Retired Boston Police Officers Assn., Fraternal Order of Police, Italian American Officers Assn. and the Knights of Columbus #2692.
He was an usher for many at St. Lazarus Church in East Boston and enjoyed repairing and restoring old radios as well as working in his wood shop. He was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School (City of Boston) Class of 1941.
Sgt. Celona’s Funeral was held on Tuesday, September 17 in Sacred Heart Church followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.

Joseph P. Rizzuti
Family was at the absolute center of his heart

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 19th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Joseph P. Rizzuti of East Boston and Chelsea, who died on Wednesday, September 11th at home following a long illness. He was 94 years old. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere. Interment will be private.
Joe was born in East Boston on November 1, 1929, to his late parents, John and Dorothy (Doran) Rizzuti. He, along with his brother, were raised and educated in East Boston and he attended East Boston High School. Joe proudly served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged for his brave and faithful service for his country. He later returned home, and began working as a Letter Carrier, primarily in the Back Bay for the United States Postal Service for over 40 years. During this time, he married Joan (Parziale) and they lived in East Boston until moving back to Chelsea in the 1990’s. He raised his daughters and cherished his grandchildren. Family was the absolute center of his heart.
He was a longtime member of the Jeffries Yacht Club and socialized there daily. He would often play cards and take in the beauty of Boston Harbor.
The beloved husband of Joan E. (Parziale) Rizzuti of 26 years, he was the loving father of Rachelle M. Gore and her husband, David Sr. of East Boston and Suzette Mathews of Milford and her late husband, David; the cherished papa of David Gore, Jr. and his husband, Sean Sullivan of Salisbury and Edward J. Gore and his wife, Gina of Peabody. He is the great grandfather of Olivia Gore of Peabody and the dear brother of the late Ralph Rizzuti. Please OMIT flowers.

Lucy Aceto
Of East Boston

Lucy (D’Andrea) Aceto of East Boston passed away on September 8, 2024.
Born in Roccasicura, Italy on October 8,1937 to Pasquale and Maria D’Andrea (Mazzochi), she was the loving wife of the late George J. Aceto Sr., devoted mother of George J. Aceto Jr., Michele Aceto-Amanouz and her husband, Joseph and Jacqueline L. Aceto SCN; cherished grandmother of Ashley Aceto and the late George J. Aceto III and adored great grandmother of Hunter and Wyatt Aceto.
Family and friends honored Lucy’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, East Boston, on Friday, September 13th and again on Saturday morning, September 14 before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church in East Boston for a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass.
