JPNA Hosts yard Sale & Free Stuff Weekend!
The Jeffries Point Neighborhood Association invites all Jeffries Point residents to participate in the Jeffries Point Yard Sale and Free Stuff Weekend! On Saturday, September 21st, residents are invited to hold Yard Sales in front of their homes from 9 AM to 3PM, and put out items to give away for free on Sunday, September 22nd.
The JPNA has been organizing a Free Stuff Day for the past several years, usually as part of Eastie Week. This year it was decided to move the event to September, to increase participation and add it to a yard sale day. Residents must ensure the sidewalk remains open for easy passing.
For Free Stuff Day, the JPNA is partnering with the McKay School, located at 122 Cottage Street. Free items can be left in the parking lot, to be picked up as waste on Monday by Public Works. Residents are also welcome to leave items in front of their homes. Everyone is encouraged to mark items as “free”. The goal of the event is to reduce the amount of waste, and to make it easier for those who are car free to dispose of unwanted items.
All are invited to visit Maverick, Everett, Sumner, Webster and Marginal Street to enjoy yard sales and collect free items!
If you would like to have your address publicized, for either the Yard Sale, or items to give away, you can email the JPNA at [email protected], or post on the Jeffries Point Neighborhood Association Facebook Page.
Massport to Host Emergency Exercise at Logan Airport
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), alongside several mutual aid partners, will hold an emergency response exercise on Friday, September 20th at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). It will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For the surrounding communities, please be aware that there will be emergency vehicles from various agencies in the vicinity.
This exercise is required every three years by the FAA to test the coordination, communication and response in the event of a major incident at BOS. A number of mutual aid partners will be taking part in the exercise alongside Massport Fire Rescue, including the Boston Fire Department, Boston EMS, Massachusetts State Police and the U.S Coast Guard.
The airport will remain open throughout the exercise.
