Long Time Boston School Educator and Administrator
Family and friends attended Visiting Hours on Tuesday, March 14 in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Nicholas F. Dioguardi who passed away on February 24 and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated today, Wednesday, March 15, in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 404 Sumner St., East Boston at 10 a.m. Please meet directly at church. The interment will be private.
Husband for 69 years, father for 68 years, and grandfather for 36 years, a lover of nature and creatures big and small. Nicholas F. Dioguardi of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston died at the age of 94 in his home. Nicholas was one of nine children, a member of the 1938 Jeffries Point gang The Gremlins (later known as the Jeffries Point Gentlemen’s Club), a long-time educator and school administrator with the Boston Public Schools as well as a night manager at Jordan Marsh. However, most of all, Nicholas was that perfect 50’s Dad. He worked three jobs and always found time to be with his wife and play with his kids.
In 1963, he bought a station wagon and drove his adorable wife, Anna Marie and three screaming children, Marian, David and Virginia Anne across the country to see the USA. As a graduate student at UCLA, he found work as Pacific Ocean Park’s Mahi Mahi amusement ride operator on the Santa Monica Pier. He was quickly fired from his position for choosing to spend Thanksgiving with his wife and children instead of working on the holiday.
He continued to pursue and earn his Master’s Degree and returned to Jeffries Point, East Boston, to live and teach at the P.H. Sheridan School.
In 1964, he welcomed his youngest son, Glenn, to the family. He remained with the Boston Public Schools system as a teacher, school administrator, and proponent of equality and integration in East
Boston, Roxbury, and Brighton. He retired from BPS in 1989.
His remaining happy years were spent dedicated to his wife, family, friends and neighborhood. Nicholas Dioguardi was known as a sweet man, a humble gentleman, and the guy everyone wanted as their “Dad” or neighbor.
Nicholas Dioguardi was pre-deceased by his youngest daughter, Virginia Anne and survived by his wife, Anna Marie Dioguardi, his daughter, Marian Dioguardi and her spouse, John Borchard, his Son, David Dioguardi and his spouse, Lu Dioguardi, and his son, Glenn Dioguardi as well as his grandsons Bobby Casaletto and Tim Casaletto and his spouse, Melissa Casaletto along with numerous wonderful nephews and nieces.

Richard DeCristoforo
Longtime Parishioner of Sacred Heart Church
Richard E. DeCristoforo of East Boston passed away on March 10.
Richard was the long time proprietor of All Brite Cleaning Service and a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in East Boston. He will be missed by many.
The loving son of the late Americo and Adeline (Mondello) DeCristoforo, he was the devoted husband of Lorraine (Amato) for 66 years, devoted father of Americo “Ricky” DeCristoforo and his longtime partner, Jean Marie and Andrew DeCristoforo and his wife, Sandra; dear brother of the late Bernice Iasbarrone, cherished grandfather of Haley, Evan, Richie, Erick and Clifford and adored great grandfather of Dante and Diya. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor Richard by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston on Friday, March 17 from 8 to 11 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church for an 11:30 a.m. mass. Services will conclude with Richard being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

Salvatore J. Albano of East Boston passed away on March 8. The beloved husband of the late Victoria A. (DiMarino), he was the loving father of Nancy Frattaroli of Lynnfield, Victoria Albano of East Boston, Anita Mattarese of Saugus, Vincent Albano and his wife, Nancy of Revere and the late Salvatore “Sal” Albano; cherished grandfather of Victoria and her husband, Thomas, Donato and his fiancé, Magda, Alexa and her husband, Thomas, Gianni, Alexandra and Paul and adored great grandfather of Vincent and Matteo. Family and friends will honor Sal’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street East Boston this morning, Wednesday, March 15 at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, East Boston for an 11 a.m. funeral mass. Services will conclude with Sal being laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery with his beloved wife, Victoria. May they rest in peace.
