The Yankees won the East Boston Little League Championship last week defeating the Mariners coached by Brandon O’Brian two games to one. The Mariners took the 1st game of the series 4 to 2 scoring all 4 runs in the 1st inning. Thomas Tapransky, Armani Cruz, and Deanna and Ryan Nee played very well for them. Joe Dalton, who had a great overall performance in the series, came in to pitch and shut the door for the rest of the game. The Yankees took the next 2 games with outstanding pitching performances by Justin Aiken and Thomas Granara. Each of them also had timely hits during the series with Justin just missing hitting for the cycle. Jack Forbes was the hitting star for the Yankees with 10 hits in the series and some aggressive baserunning. Leudys Suriel had 4 big hits in the final game. He is going to be a great player! JJ Tritto was tremendous behind the plate, keeping the pitching staff sharp. Saul Sanchez played flawlessly at shortstop turning in several great plays in addition to some clutch hits. Kaiden Wise played well in center field knocking in a big run during game 2. Finally, the younger guys all contributed to the victory. Antonio and Giovanni Lopez and Henry Forbes worked hard all season. The work paid off as they each had hits in the series. Vinny Cammelari also played well in field. The coaching staff of Anthony Forbes, Josh Tritto, and Pat Aiken were very pleased with the way the team improved over the season and are very proud of the boy’s dedication and effort.
