ZUMIX Hosts Summer Concert Series in Piers Park

East Boston, Mass. – ZUMIX’s annual outdoor Summer Concert Series returns on Sunday evenings this summer in East Boston’s Piers Park. The series will kick off Sunday, July 11, with ZUMIX’s annual Walk For Music, followed by a performance by local powerhouse band Don’t Be Denied. The concert series will continue until August 25. All concerts will take place from 6-8pm, and each concert will open with talented young musicians from ZUMIX’s youth programs. Additional featured acts include local soul artist Ava Sophia, Dzidzor, and Kotoko Brass.

“I’m most excited for the [East Boston] community to come together in ways it never has before,” said Madeleine Steczynski, co-founder and executive director of ZUMIX. “The space [at Piers Park] is a beautiful space—imagine the park and the waterfront with the sunset as musicians perform for droves of families.” Participants will be encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. ZUMIX is excited to showcase the best ensembles from its programs and its East Boston neighborhood, as well as providing opportunities for musicians and sound engineers to use their skills live for the first time in more than a year.

ZUMIX empowers young people to build successful futures for themselves, transforming lives and community through music, technology, and creative enjoyment. ZUMIX is a registered 501C3 non-profit organization that provides top-quality cultural programming as an alternative way for young people to deal with frustration, anger, and fear, and as a method of building cultural understanding and acceptance in one of Boston’s most diverse neighborhoods. Northeast Metro Tech Thanks Community Leaders

Superintendent David DiBarri wishes to thank community leaders who are requesting the state use federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to help pay for a new Northeast Metro Tech school building.

Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, and Chelsea City Manager Thomas Ambrosino are requesting support for the funding for a new state-of-the-art building.

Gateway City Mayors Shaunna O’Connell of Taunton and Paul Coogan of Fall River are seeking similar spending for the new Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical School in Taunton and for Greater Fall River Vocational Technical High School in Fall River.

These five Gateway City leaders are asking state leaders to commit $300 million of the Commonwealth’s expected $5.3 billion from the American Rescue Act funds.
