Jets Open Season on Friday

Practice began on Friday, August 16 at Sartori Stadium and continued all last week as the East Boston High School football team gets ready for the new season.  John Parziale begins his tenth season with a record of 52-43.  Last year, the Jets ended the season at 4-7 and won the Thanksgiving Day game at home by a score of 22-6.  The Turkey day game this year is back at White Stadium on Nov. 28 and will be the 101st in the rivalry with South Boston.

Game one is this Friday evening at Sartori Stadium with Lowell Catholic.

As we go to press, the team captains have yet to be decided.  With a good group of returning players and a capable coaching staff that includes veterans of the team like Tyrone Figueroa ’08, expectations are high for a successful season and hopefully no injuries to key players.

Its year six for an MIAA approved play-off system.  Schedules are set for September and October.  Games in November will be determined by a point system in which Eastern Massachusetts and Central Massachusetts schools will be split into two groups:  play-off teams and non-qualifiers.  The new system began in 2013.
