BPDA Approves Project Change for Eddy

The Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) recently granted the developers of “The Eddy” a Certificate of Compliance for several changes the owners of the property want to make to the mixed use development on Eastie’s waterfront near LoPresti Park.

The residential development that houses the popular restaurant, The Reel House, opened several years ago with great success.

Building upon that success the developers asked the BPDA to allow for the addition of a one story, approximately 1,893 square foot canopy to expand the use of the Reel House restaurant that currently occupies the commercial/retail space at The Eddy. The developers also asked the BPDA for permission to relocate existing Designated Port Area (DPA) access route as well as the ability to make landscape modifications to an existing green space and add approximately 1,550 square feet of docks to the existing water transportation docks to accommodate additional vessels that may access The Eddy and Reel House.

The developers needed to seek permission for these small projects from the BPDA because they were not part of the original filing that was approved by the board back in 2015.

On May 17, 2019, the developers  filed a Notice of Project Change with the BPDA, which initiated a 45 day public comment period.

The BPDA subsequently sponsored  and held a public meeting on July 9, 2019 at the Maverick Landing Community Room located to review and discuss the NPC.

The changes received support from the community.
