Gloria Overton

Former East Boston resident

Gloria L. (Tassinari) Overton, in Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on Oct. 27.

She was the beloved wife of the late Al H. Overton, mother of Aleta Lanzilli and her husband, William of Revere and Ronald Overton and his wife, Lorna of East Boston; sister of Tosca Tassinari of East Boston and the late Giaconda Smart, Max, Antenori, and Albano Tassinari; grandmother of David Lanzilli and his wife, Ana, Danielle Overton Russo and her husband, Derek, Dawn Lanzilli Townshend and her husband, Mark and Richard Overton and his husband, Kim and great-grandmother of Deandra, Domenic, Gwendolyn, Dario, Isabel, William, Ava and Dante.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held in the Magrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] East Boston on Thursday, Nov. 1at 1 p.m.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting hours will be held prior to services commencing at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Marie Barrasso

Avid Bingo player

Marie C. ( Massaro) Barrasso of East Boston died peacefully on Oct. 25.

Marie was an avid Bingo player for over 50 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas, devoted mother of Nicholas Barrasso and his wife, Gail of Florida, cherished sister of  Anthony Massaro and his wife, Ann of Andover  and Frederick Massaro and his wife, Marion of Winthrop. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews Family  and  friends  will honor Marie’s life by gathering on Thursday, Nov. 1  at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St.  (Orient Heights) East Boston from 9 to 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to St Joseph St Lazarus Church, East Boston for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Marie’s life at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Marie being laid to rest with her beloved husband, Nicholas in Holy Cross Cemetery. Annacella ‘Ann’ LaRosa

Amazing mother and grandmother

Annacella “Ann” (Vietro) LaRosa of Everett, formerly of Malden, died on Oct. 22 at the age of 98 after a brief illness.

Ann was the most amazing mother and grandmother who was full of life, love and compassion and will be in our hearts forever.

She was the beloved wife of the late Feliciano, loving mother of Anthony LaRosa, Sandra LaRosa, Cheryl LaRosa Guerriero and the late Philip; devoted mother in law to Ben Guerriero and Christine LaRosa; daughter of the late Michael and Concetta Vietro and the sister of Gloria Colantuoni and the late Rose Santagate, Eleanor Brickley and Paul Vietro. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Dawn LaRosa and her husband, Mike McClure, TJ LaRosa and his wife, Heather, Salvatore Guerriero and Gianni Guerriero and by five great grandchildren: Rilee LaRosa, Vincenzo McClure, Alex LaRosa, Aiden LaRosa, and Annacella LaRosa and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

James ‘Jimmy’ Sartori, Sr.

Suffolk County Sheriff’s Dept. retiree

James A. “Jimmy” Sartori Sr., a life-long resident of Jeffries Point East Boston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Massachuestts General Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the age of 78.

Jimmy attended the Assumption School in East Boston and later Don Bosco Prep. He joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict and served in various places throughout the world. When he came home, he married the love of his life, Patricia Murphy. They raised their family in the Jeffries Point Section of East Boston. He was a well known member of the East Boston community, always involved in various community events.

He worked for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer at Deer Island and South Bay House of Corrections and retired as a Lt. Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of the Beachmont VFW and a life-member of the Winthrop Elks.

Friends and family will remember Jimmy as a man who always had a smile on his face and sought to make other people’s days brighter. He will be missed by all.

Jimmy was born in Boston on May 27, 1940 to John J. and Amalia (Martella) Sartori. He was the beloved husband for over 55 years of Particia (Murphy) Sartori; devoted father of Patricia “Patti.” Sartori-Braid and her husband, Chuckie of East Boston and James A. Sartori Jr. and his wife, Joanne of Mount Saini, NY; dear brother of the late John J. Sartori Jr. and his surviving wife, Anita of Dracut; cherished grandfather of Christian, Andrew, Gabriella, Adam and Roma and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marie A. Reid

Of Hyannis

Marie A. (Savino)(Sauro) Reid, age 77, a longtime Hyannis resident, recently of Hingham, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Rose Court at Linden Ponds in Hingham.

She was the beloved wife of the late James H. Sauro, who passed away in 1993, and the late Allen B. Reid, who passed away in 2014.

Born in Boston on December 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles Savino and Rose M. (Pinto)(Savino) Chieppo.

Marie was raised in East Boston, attended local schools, and graduated from East Boston High School.

Prior to her retirement, she worked in the hospitality industry and was employed as a travel agent.

Marie resided at Linden Ponds Assisted Living Community since July of 2017. She previously lived in Hyannis for over 20 years, and in the Lowell-Tewksbury area for several years.

Marie is survived by three sons, James D. Sauro and his significant other Sharlene Hansen of Plymouth, Charles G. Sauro and his wife Kay of Paola, KS, and Keith J. Sauro and his wife Tiffany of Shawnee, KS; six grandchildren, Andrew, Stephanie, Jace, Brooke, Evan, and Vincent Sauro.

Marie was the sister of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Casazza, who passed away in 2009.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewkbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Following cremation, interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. Please Omit Flowers.
