East Boston Waves Enjoy a Very Successful Season

The EB Waves travel softball team continued to roll finishing atop its division for the third time in four years.   Competing at the 18 U level, the Waves yearly play an ambitious schedule that have them traveling around the greater Boston area playing teams from such cities as Marlborough, Haverhill, Amesbury, Seabrook, and Danvers.   Shortstop Jessica Martins home run helped the team beat previously undefeated Marlborough in a back-and-forth affair a week ago, setting up a finale vs Charlestown with the leagues top spot on the line. Serena Gilbride pitched a one-hitter and sisters McKenzie and Madison Theriault, hit home runs that sent the Waves to a convincing 8-0 victory.   Bella Perotti, Morgan Vigeant, Nasja Taylor, Emma Carney, Jade Finnegan, and Theresa Forbes also had strong seasons for the team, which is coached by Robert Gilbride, Joe Carney, and Daryl Martin and also plays in several tournaments throughout New England.

‘This group is so dedicated and has been together for so long now that their success is no surprise.  They are all successful playing varsity ball at their respective schools and improve so much yearly that at this point they can almost coach themselves.  They’re a pleasure to coach and it’s rewarding to see how far they’ve all come.’
