At a community meeting Monday evening District 7 Community Officer Dan Simons and Sergeant Jimmy Martin announced that police have arrested a man they believe was responsible for the armed robbery and indecent exposure incident involving a mother and her 10-year old son last month.

On Monday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 a.m. a mother and her son were held at knife point and robbed. The suspect then indecently exposed himself to the victims in the 200 block of Saratoga Street.
On that day, police from District 7 responded to a radio call of an armed robbery and found a very shaken 43-year-old mother and her 10-year-old son who reported that as they were exiting their residence on Paris St., a man entered the home’s hallway and displayed a folding knife. The suspect ordered the mother and son to sit in the stairwell and demanded money, and took cash from the mother’s purse.
The suspect then indecently exposed himself to the mother and son and attempted to force the two back upstairs into their apartment.
Hearing a commotion in the hallway, a neighbor in one of the home’s other apartments ran downstairs and yelled at the suspect.
The suspect fled the home and jumped into a dark colored sedan that police said could possibly be a Toyota Corolla or Camry that was parked on the corner of Paris and Marion Streets with its hazards on. The victims and neighbor got a look at the suspects plate but was only able to give police a partial registration that included 5FX.
According to the victims the suspect is described as a white male with green eyes and yellow hair, about 6’2” tall with a muscular build wearing all black, a black hat, and a black mask.
Simons and Martin said that a second victim came forward after reading about the incident and reported that a similar incident happened to her three days earlier in the same area.
At Monday’s meeting Simons did not release the suspects name due to some further evidence gathering as part of the ongoing investigation but said police are confident they have their man.
“We believe based on the description of the suspect by the three victims, the type of car used in both attacks and the M.O. (modus operandi) used in both attacks the man arrested was the suspect we were looking for,” said Simons.
While his name was not released Simons did say he is an East Boston man and was apprehended last Thursday morning near Paris and Brooks Streets after a report of another armed robbery in that area.
