Mildred ‘Millie’ Sousa

Longtime member of the Courageous Generation of St. Lazarus Parish

Mildred “Millie” (DiChiara) Sousa of East Boston passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday.

A long-time member of the Courageous Generation – Saint Lazarus Parish, she was the beloved wife of the late John B. Sousa; devoted mother of Anthony Sousa and his wife, Patricia of Hamilton and John R. Sousa Sr. and his wife, Charlotte of Peabody; dear sister of Emma Maffei of Norwood, Raffie Sojko of Saugus, Annette “Netta” Caruccio of Winthrop, Christopher DiChiara of Arizona, Carol Russo-Aliberti of Saugus, and the late Angelo “Holly” DiChiara, Nicholas DiChiara, Florence Costanzo and Rose Brogna; cherished Nana to four grandchildren and one great-grand child. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Mildred’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston today, Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the Saint Joseph – Saint Lazarus Church, Ashley Street, East Boston, for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Millie’s life at 10 a.m. Mildred will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, John at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. May they both rest in peace. In honoring Millie’s memory and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mildred’s name to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
