Last week, a traffic island near Bennington and Wally Streets was named in honor of Buddy Mangini.
There are certain people who come to mind when you think of East Boston and one of these is Buddy Mangini.
Whenever the cause for helping comes from the Kiwanis Club, or the East Boston Chamber of Commerce, or the YMCA, or the Knights of Columbus — and the list could go on and on — Buddy is always the first one to raise his hand.
He exemplifies the idea that our community is made stronger by ordinary citizens helping in a thousand little ways and Buddy has been doing so in East Boston for decades. His efforts have benefited countless thousands of his fellow East Bostonians.
We congratulate Buddy on this recent honor. We are sure that all would agree that what Buddy has done, and continues to do, is not merely ordinary, but extraordinary.
