Philomena Giardina

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Philomena “Auntie Fannie” (Gentile) Giardina of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away on Sunday, January 10. She was 96 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gaetano “Uncle Guy” Giardina; loving aunt of Maria Longo and her husband, Phillip, Michael Gentile and his wife, Amy, the late Philip Gentile and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  She was the caring sister of the late Josephine Gentile, Palmina Dascoli, Helen Gentile, Jenny Bruno, Millie Cataruzolo, Theresa Surette and Joseph Gentile.

Family and friends will honor Fannie’s life by gathering in Vazza’s Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach St Revere on Thursday, January 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. before leaving in procession to The Most Holy Redeemer Church, East Boston for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in her honor at 12 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fannie’s name to the Alzheimers Association, 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472.  For guestbook and directions www.vazzafunerals.com

Mary Pugliese

Retired seamstress of California, formerly of East Boston

Mary (Basillio) Pugliese of Thousand Oaks, California, formerly of East Boston, passed away on  January 1,  at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA following a short illness. She was 95 years old.

Mary worked as a seamstress for Forest Hills Sportswear for over 30 years.

The beloved wife of the late  Sabattino  J. “Puggy” Pugliese with whom she shared 73 years of marriage, she was the cherished daughter of the late Annibalo and Josephine (Bonfiglio) Basillio; loving mother of Annabella Molea and her husband, Joseph of Woburn, Joseph Pugliese and his wife, Deborah of Thousand Oaks, CA and the late Elisabeth Gulla who is survived by her husband, Anthony Gulla of West Peabody; adored grandmother of William Gulla of Peabody, Jennifer Rogers of N. Andover, Robert  Molea of Groveland, FL, Rick Molea of Winthrop and Joseph and Michelle Pugliese of Thousand Oaks, CA; caring sister of the late Greg Basillo, Carmen Basillio, Theresa Cieri, and Frank Basillio.

Family and friends will honor Mary’s life by gathering in Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere at 9 a.m. Today, Wednesday, for a Funeral Service to held in our chapel of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Gerald ‘Jay’ Swan, Sr.

Of East Boston

Gerald J. “Jay” Swan,  Sr  of East Boston died peacefully on January 5.

He was the loving son of the late Edwin and Irene (Prevost) Swan; devoted father of Gerald Jr, Jason and Kelli and is also survived by his four dear brothers and four sisters. He was the brother of the late Donald Swan, former husband of Cheryl (Polito), the cherished grandfather of four grandchildren and is also survived by  many fond nieces and nephews.

Of New Hampshire, formerly of East Boston

Mary C. (Corrao) D’Ambrosio of Derry, New Hampshire passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 8.

She was the beloved wife of Ernest N. D’Ambrosio, devoted mother of Marc and his wife, Jean of Revere, Kenny and his wife, Darlene of Derry, NH, David and his wife, Michele of Revere and Jaimey D’Ambrosio of East Boston; dear sister of Robert Corrao, Joanna Conroy and her husband, Jimmy, all of Revere; cherished grandmother of Marc, Jr, David, Jr, Kenny, Jr, Jack, Emily and Dante. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Mary’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston today, Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, East Boston for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary’s life at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Mary being laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery. Gennario ‘Jerry Garcia’ Del Prete

Former owner of Gloria Chain in East Boston, known as “King of Cold Cuts”

Gennario M. “Jerry Garcia” Del Prete of East Boston passed away peacefully on January 6 surrounded by his loving family.

The former owner of the Gloria Food Store, East Boston and an avid participant at his beloved Suffolk Downs, he was known as the “King of Cold Cuts.” Jerry was a friend to all and loved his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

He was the beloved husband of Rita L. (Chenard); loving father of Anthony Del Prete of East Boston; cherished son of the late Michael and Ann Del Prete; dear brother of Michael Del Prete of Revere and the late Ann Marie Allouise and is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Robert Stott

Long time logistic manager for Sears and Roebuck

Robert Stott of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on January 5.

A U.S. Army Korean Conflict Vetreran, Robert worked as a Logistic Manager for Sears and Roebuck for many years.

He was the beloved husband of the late Lucy “Lulu” (Sardo); devoted father of Robert P. and his wife, Tishi of Revere, Patricia Stott of Revere, John and his wife, Joyce and Anthony “Dino,” all of Peabody; dear brother of the late John Stott; loving brother in-law of Connie and Vincent Tagliamonte of Melrose, Ro Ro and Joseph Cattoggio of Revere and Nina Sardo of Boxford and is also survived by six loving grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, Revere.
