Josephine DiFlumeri

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

Josephine DiFlumeri of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away on June 9. She was 86 years old.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Vincent and Mary DiFlumeri; loving sister of Albert DiFlumeri and his wife, Josephine of Saugus, Anthony “DoDo” DiFlumeri and Vincent DiFlumeri, both of Winthrop and the late Lorraine DiFlumeri and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. John Fitzpatrick

Committed to his family, church and God

John H. Fitzpatrick of Everett, formerly of East Boston, entered into eternal rest on June 14 at the age of 92.

Known for his generosity of spirit and gifts, John was committed to his family, church and God. He was long-time communicant at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea and Sacred Heart parishes in East Boston, Holy Family Parish in St. Petersburg, FL, and most recently at St. Agnes Parish in Arlington. A graduate of East Boston High School, John retired from the US Postal Service and had also worked at the US Naval Shipyard in Charlestown.

He was the devoted son of the late Anna L. (Sullivan) and Joseph H. Fitzpatrick; dear brother of Anna Gibbons, Irene Cotter, Claire Greene and the late Marie Skane, Evelyn Maher, Joseph Fitzpatrick and Eleanor Babb. He was the cherished “Uncle Fitzie” to his many loving nieces and nephews as well as to all who knew him.

Family and friends will honor John’s life by gathering on Saturday, June 20 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Serenity Chapel of the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., East Boston. Services will conclude with John being laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Boston, 18 Canton St. Stoughton, MA 02072.

Mirella Ursino

Proud family matriach

Mirella (Ferraro) Ursino of Revere died suddenly on June 13. She was 62 years old.

Mrs. Ursino was the proud matriarch of the family. She enjoyed spending countless hours with her children and grandchildren always cooking for all of them and sharing stories. She will be forever missed and always remembered as someone who cared deeply for her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

She was the beloved wife of 43 years of Nicola; devoted mother of Rocco Ursino of Revere, Laura DeCologero and her husband, Paul of Revere and Danielle Munro of Wakefield; dear sister of Maria Jeraci and her husband, Vincenzo and the late Natali Ferraro; cherished grandmother of Isabella, Dante, Caden and Gwen and is also survived by many loving neices and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Mirella’s life by gathering today, Wednesday, June 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Serenity Chapel of the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston and again on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in funeral procession to Immaculate Conception Church, Beach Street, Revere for a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Emtombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Marie DiMonte

Studied at New England Conservatory of Music

Marie M. DiMonte, an East Boston native and Revere resident, died on June 12 at the Resident Care Rehab & Nursing Center of Framingham following a long illness. She was 79 years old.

Born and raised in Boston, the family lived in East Boston and moved to Revere more than 65 years ago. Marie was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1954. She attended New England Conservatory of Music, majoring in voice. Marie had a genuine love of opera and the classics. Her voice was, indeed, according to friends, “most operatic” – even in the early days of her career. A long standing illness came upon her and prevented her from continuing her education and hopes of an operatic career. However, in spite of her handicap, she continued to sing for family, friends and neighbors.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Angelo DiMonde (DiMonte) and Rosaria “Rose” (Riccio) DiMonde (DiMonte); the dear sister of Jean Barrett of Norwood, Pasquale Dimonte of Seabrook, NH, Anna Rotondo of Saugus, Gloria M. Ferullo, Lena M. Spagnolo and Rose Festa, all of Revere, Anthony Dimonte of Chelsea and the late Margaret DiMonte, George DiMonte and Antonette Lea. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours today, Wednesday, June 17 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. Miss DiMonte’s funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11 a.m. and will be followed by interment in St. Michael Cemetery in Boston’s Forest Hills Section. Saverio ‘Sam’ Pellegrini

Active in veterans organizations and politics

Saverio L. “Sam” Pellegrini of Peabody, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully on June 14, his 94th birthday, at The Soldiers Home in Chelsea.

Sam was a US Army veteran o World War II, a Past Commander, Italian –American WW Vets, a member of AMVETS, and WWII Overseas Veteran. He was very active in politics in the 1950-60s, and he and his wife attended the inaugural of President John F. Kennedy in January, 1961.

He was the beloved husband of Rose (Cagnina) Pellegrini; loving father of Robert R.“Bob the Barber” Pellegrini and his companion, Ann Barrett and John Pellegrini and his wife, Susan of Danvers; cherished grandfather of four and great-grandfather of nine; caring brother of Irene Granara of Medford and the late Armando, Carmen, and Enrico “Oscott” Pellegrini and daughter in-law Dianne Pellegrini. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor Sam’s life by gathering in Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach St., Revere today, Wednesday, at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. Anthony’s Church, Revere for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in his honor at 10 a.m.. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam’s name to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave Chelsea, MA 02150.

James F. Kenneally, Jr, of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away on June 11. He was 79 years old.

The cherished son of the late Anna (Messina) and James F. Kenneally, Sr., he was the caring brother of Anna Nazzaro.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Bocchetti

Proud member of Moose

Anthony O. “Tony” Bocchetti of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston, passed away on June 14. He was 89 years old.

Tony was a proud member of Moose Lodge 1272 of Revere.

He was pre-deceased by his beloved parents Carmelo and Luisa (Nardossa) Bocchetti and was the dear brother of Mary DeCarlo of East Boston and the late Connie Bocchetti, Eleanor Langthorne, Orlando Bocchetti and Mike Bocchetti; devoted father of Marguerite “Marni” Franceski of Stamford, Connecticut; Brenda Silva of Danville, New Hampshire; and the late Christina Hanlon of Saugus. He also leaves his former wife Brenda Bocchetti. He was the cherished grandfather of Eric Marchand, Erin Hanlon, Mark Silva Jr., Jennifer Silva, Ashley Silva and Michael Franceski. He is also survived by his loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Genoeffa ‘Jenny’ (Giannasca) Bruno of East Boston passed away on Saturday, June 13. She was 84 years old.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Assunta (Guarino) and Michele Giannasca; beloved wife of the late Epifanio Bruno; loving mother of Raffaele Bruno and his wife, Silvana, Paul Bruno and his wife, Donna, Teresa Fulciniti and her husband, Frank, Maria Conti and her husband, Robert and Bernardo Bruno and his wife, Debbie; adored grandmother of Stefano, Sofia, Nicholas, Isabella, Marco, Alana, Analise, Ariana and Francesco; caring sister of Armando, Elena, Emilio and the late Iolanda and Fiore and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
