Anthony Giovanniello

Of East Boston

Anthony Giovanniello of East Boston died on April 11. He was 64 years old.

A past employee for over 35 years of the City of Boston DPW and Past Vice President AFSCME, he was the devoted son of the late Amilio and Josephine (Polignone) Giovanniello; dear brother of Rocco Giovanniello and his wife, Sherry of Winthrop, John Giovanniello of East Boson, Richard Giovanniello and his wife, Andrea of Saugus, Robert Giovanniello and his wife, Patricia of East Boston and Gary Polignone and his wife, Cindy of Middleton; cherished uncle of Vanessa, Nikkii, Maria and Stephen and is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, East Boston. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Yolanda Zecchino

Competition winner at former Wonderland Ballroom

Yolanda (Minichiello) Zecchino of Peabody died Friday afternoon at Salem Hospital with her family by her side following a brief illness. She was 87 years old.

The devoted wife of the late Domenic J. Zecchino with whom she would have shared 66 years of marriage this week, she was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Nancy (Scherma) Minichiello. She was raised and educated in East Boston, was a graduate of Boston Girls Trade School and has lived in Peabody for over 34 years.

Yolanda worked as a seamstress and milliner for Great Dane in Boston, was employed for over 18 years as a second shift Supervisor for General Electric in East Boston and later worked as a retail manager for RIX Drug.

She was an amateur USO singer who sang at events during World War II, and she competed with her husband, Domenic at the former Wonderland Ball Room in Revere and they won several competitions. She also enjoyed boating with her husband on The Charles River and Lake Winnipesaukee.

She is survived by her two sons, Domenic Zecchino, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Saugus and Richard Zecchino and his fiancée, Marianne Rousseau of New Hampshire, her daughter, Ellaranne and her husband, Leonard Roland of Peabody, her sister, Connie DiCesare of Salem, her sister-in-law, Dottie Minichiello of Saugus, her dear friend, Gayle Macy and by her seven beloved grandchildren: Matthew D. Zecchino and his wife, Kaitlyn, Casey L Roland with Zachary Reynolds, Melissa M. Zecchino, Craig A Zecchino and his fiancée, Kelly Madden, Stephany M. Zecchino, Kelsy M. Zecchino, and Becky Jo Roland; her great grandchild, Rylie Zecchino, and by her four legged companion, Lucy. She was predeceased by her siblings: Salvatore “Sonny,” Ralph, and Patsy Minichiello and Louise Tasha.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St, DOWNTOWN LOCATION, Peabody. Her Funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
