State Representative’s Race has Begun

With the decision by State Rep. Carlo Basile to accept a prominent position in Governor-elect Charlie Baker’s administration, East Boston voters will head to the ballot box early in 2015 to select a successor to Rep. Basile.

There will be big shoes to fill at the State House. Rep. Basile was an outstanding advocate for East Boston residents and was highly visible at events throughout our community. He was accessible and his office always responded promptly to constituents’ requests for assistance. Basile and State Senator Anthony Petruccelli have provided excellent representation for East Boston residents on Beacon Hill and have worked well as a team.

And now another important decision is in the hands of East Boston residents as the race begins to pick our next state representative. Adrian Madaro has announced that he will be a candidate for the position and we expect that other candidates will also soon enter the race.

We hope that East Boston residents take an active role in the various campaigns and choose to participate in the election process. East Boston has always been a politically active community with the late Anthony Albano being so much a part of local and citywide campaigns.

We look forward to reporting on the state representative campaign leading up to Election Day.

It should be an exciting election.
