East Boston, Mass. – On Sunday, September 21st, ZUMIX, a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to building community through music and the arts, will host their fifth annual 5K race, RUN 2 the BEAT. At 9:00am, runners will take off on Boston’s most scenic, musical, and fun 5K. Starting in Piers Park at 108 Marginal Street with incredible skyline views, the flat and fast race course takes runners through East Boston’s incredible green spaces with live music all along the route.
Participants are invited to run in costume, dressed as their favorite musical icon. Runners may choose to run as a soloist or form a supergroup of four or more people. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest runners and the best costumes. Costume categories include Best Solo Artist, Best Supergroup, and Hardest to Run In. Giveaways and snacks will be available for all.
To register for the race, visit http://zumixrun2thebeat.eventbrite.com/. Registration is $35 for solo adult runners and $30 per person for adult supergroups of 4 people or more. Registration is $15 for youth runners (under 18 years old). Those who register by August 8th will be entered into a raffle to win a $75 gift card to Ecco Restaurant! This year, we will be improving our race timing by using chip timing for all runners to ensure accuracy.
