Congratulations, EBLL President Chuckie Cassaro

We join the local sports community in congratulating Chuckie Cassaro on his election as president of the East Boston Little League.

Cassaro is a lifelong East Boston resident and has two children, Anthony, 21, who is a student at Salem State University majoring in Criminal Justice, and C.J., 10, who plays in the Major Division of East Boston Little League.

Cassaro and the new board have big plans for the 2014 season. For example, the league will purchase new uniforms for every player.

We applaud the additions to the board of John Sepulveda and Brenda Figueroa who will serve as liaisons to the Latino community.

East Boston Little League has a lengthy and proud history. Many East Boston High School and Dom Savio (later Savio Prep) baseball players got their start in the league. Even the great Tony Conigliaro once played in the league on his way to a career with the Boston Red Sox.

So many men and women have volunteered their time in the past to build up the East Boston Little League organization where it became one of the best in the city. Now it’s up Chuckie Cassaro to continue that dedicated leadership and maintain the great tradition that is East Boston Little League Baseball.

We’re confident that Chuckie will lead the EBLL to even greater heights. If you have a child who enjoys playing sports and wants to learn about sportsmanship and teamwork, we recommend signing up for the 2014 season and supporting this great organization.

There is snow on the ground but come April the sweet sound of baseball meeting bat will heard in our local parks.

Good luck, Chuckie, in your new position of EBLL president.
