EBMHL Playoff Stage is Set, EBYC Claims Regular Season Crown

The third season of the EBMHL came to a close last Tuesday evening at Eastie’s Porazzo Rink. After 27 weeks of fantastic hockey action, for the second season in a row, the East Boston Yacht Club clinched first place, the regular season title, and quarterfinal BYE taking them right into the semifinals where they will meet the lowest remaining seed after Tuesday night March 27th’s Quarterfinal matchups. Carrying EBYC most of its way to first place was the top line of Charlie Daniels, the leagues overall scoring champion with an outstanding 68 goals and 46 assists for 114 pts, David Berardinelli who compiled 55 goals and 41 assists for 96 pts, and Matty Clewer with 27 goals and 32 assists for a total of 59 pts on the year. Goaltender Chris Grossmann was lights out all year long in the pipes for EBYC who will now sit and wait for Tuesday nights outcomes to find out who they will take on next in the Semifinals.

Receiving the 2nd BYE was Lightning Express, who came down to the wire with Milano’s Deli. Both teams were in a deadlock tie for 2nd place, and fortunately, for Lightning Express they took the 2nd BYE, due to the tiebreaker coming into play, after battling Milano’s to a 5-5 tie this past Tuesday night. Milano’s Deli settled in at the 3rd Spot after the hard fought tie with Lightning Express. Nicky Rossi was the difference all season long for Lightning Express as he shut down opposing offenses night in and night out. For Milano’s, Peter Hanlon led the way, along with linemate Mike Burri who was furious in front of the net clearing the way for Hanlon all year long. Taking the 4th spot in the playoff race was Royal Roast Beef, who after a very slow start came storming back to become an instant contender behind the performances of Leading Scorer runner-up Darrell Interbartolo who finished the season with 44 goals and 64 assists for 110 pts on the season. A fantastic year for Interbartolo. The 5th spot was locked up by Chiara’s Auto who will be looking to make some noise early in the playoffs behind big guns Paul Monzione, Sean Smith, and Mike Rodrigues, and as you all know Danilchuk Auto, who turned into the disappointment of the season, but  has made some noise as of late, locked up the 6th and final spot in the playoff race. Marc Lanzilli and Bill Corcoran were the go-to guys for Danilchuk, and hope to contribute in a major way in the upcoming playoffs as Danilchuk looks to wear Cinderellas slipper to an EBMHL Championship.
