Representative Carlo Basile has received an important post from the Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo.

This does not come as a surprise.

Basile is a loyal soldier for the speaker and the speaker has returned the support by showing that he, too, is loyal to those who are loyal to him.

This is the way it works on Beacon Hill and really, this is the way it works in life outside of politics.

Basile will be serving as the Vice Chair of the Financial Services Committee.

It is a good appointment for a guy from East Boston who hasn’t been in the House that long.

Most importantly, it shows he has the ear and the support of the speaker – and where we come from, what is more important to a rep than having the ear of the speaker?
